I have setup a home network and I am having a problem. I can see each machine
on the other but can't access the files. I can Ping both and get a response back. I have Mcafee Internet Security Suite on the Vista machine and Norton on the ME Machine. I can access the internet from both machines. I get the following message from the vista machine: "pcname" is not set up to establish a connection on port "File and printer sharing (SMB)" with this computer. Any help would be appreciated Thank you in advance CJ9998 |

I think you have just described and identified a big part of your problem.

Max,
are you saying that McAfee is stopping the return traffic and not SMB? cj9998 "Max" wrote: I think you have just described and identified a big part of your problem. Yes....more than one person has reported success with removing McAfee and/or
Norton. If Norton is just the AV app, turn off Internet Worm Protection. Alternative AV apps that have a higher success rate(AVast, AVG, and Kaspersky). ..winston "cj9998" wrote in message ... I had the same problem but between two Vista machines. I found an answer ...
I hope it works for you. I needed to enable file sharing in the network properties: In Vista it's: Network and Sharing Center/Status/Properties (check File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks). The following is the article I found via Google that is directed at XP: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/...hoot/netbt.htm Good luck -- SteveB "cj9998" wrote: I have setup a home network and I am having a problem.
