Default Audio Feedback / Buzzing

I am getting audio buzzing while playing videos, this happens through my
attached speakers on the Dell flat panel display or through a headset. It
happened immediatley upon my Vista upgrade, the system had XP Media Center
before and this did not happen then.

The buzzing happens with all the players I've tried Windows Media Player,
Media Player Class, DIVX and VLC Media Player. Sometimes the buzzing stops,
then starts up again, and the buzzing is less with VLC Media Player.

Details of my PC are below.

Thanks for any help, this one is really annoying!

XPS 400 Pentium® D Processor 830 with Dual Core Technology (3GHz, 800FSB)

I can't believe I'm the only one having this problem?? No one else has this
issue? It is almost unbearable to watch videos or do voice conferencing on
my 1 year old PC.

Help!

I am having the same problem!!! I thought maybe my speakers had gone bad
and even tried a different set. Buzzing still happens. I can't listen to
ANY audio through the computer without the annoying buzzing.

Hello Microsoft tech support . . . . let's get this fixed!

I also get a lot of audio feedback in the form of buzzing! But I don't
get it from my headphones. I only get it when I connect my computer to
my audio/visual receiver. It does not happen when my mp3 player is
connected to my receiver though; only when the computer is connected to
it. I use the same cord for both. I just switch it from my mp3 player to
my headphone jack on my computer. But the audio also buzzed when I
connected it with the digital audio cable on the back of my computer.
I'm not suggesting this is a Vista issue. But some advice in fixing it
would be nice. Thanks!

Just curious, are you connecting digital optical or digital wired?

Have you tried muting the mic?

Check for unconnected or unused inputs.

Right click on Speaker icon in the System Tray
Select Recording devices

Select each one, bring up properties and lower the volume, click mute if
available then disable them.

You might also test Playback format for SPDIF

Connect the PC to your A/V receiver

Click Playback tab
Select the SPDIF device
Click Properties button
Click Supported Formats
Click on DTS Audio to highlight
Click Test Button
Click Yes or No when asked
Click Dolby Digital to highlight
Click Test Button
Click Yes or No when asked
Same with Microsoft WMA Pro Audio
Same for sampling rate.

If you click no, it will uncheck the box, if yes it will put a check mark in
the box.
