Actually i had just the opposite problem , it seems Vista has an option for
pass-wording file sharing even though you don't have a password , after I shut that darn thing off I can see all my files and printers. Your problem sounds like you may have to run the "set up a home network wizard" again (or if you haven't already) program from your XP pc , that way it should set up your firewall and stuff for sharing with your Vista rig. Your router should be fine. Just curious , can you see the internet through your router with your Vista rig? "Ric Sterling" wrote: Rob I hope you can help me. Have you made sure they are in the same network/workgroup?
If so the last thing I would try is re checking the Printer and File sharing on both and shut down the firewalls and try again , other than that I have no idea , Vista should be able to see your XP rig with no problems. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. "Ric Sterling" wrote: Yes....and I did do a complete Wizard on both machines..no go...
