Disk Drive installation: Help needed
Hello,
First off let me describe the situation I am in. I have had my Vista Home Premium for about 2 months and I relized that my usage would require two Disk drives (my original being a Multi-Recorder). I removed a DVD ROM drive from my old XP and installed it into my Vista computer. I have installed drives before, so i doubt that the hardware was put in incorrectly. I booted up my computer and it scanned and installed drivers for the DVD ROM drive i had just installed. Next a message saying "Drivers are out of date" came up. I went into hardware management and scanned for up to date drivers. It found them. Then i went to install the drivers and when i scanned for new hardware after installing them, my Multi-recorder AND my new DVD ROM drive had disapeared from the control panels hardware veiwer! I rebooted and it recognized 1 disk drive (the Multi Recorder) i insterted a disk into the Multi Recorder, but no auto wizard came up. I went into the computer menu and selected CD/DVD-RW drive it said "No disk inserted" and ejected BOTH my Multi Rec. and the new DVD ROM drive. I am stumped and it would be great for somone to help me! Thanks again! |
