Intallation error 0x80070003, cannot install Vista
I have tried at least 5 times now to install Home Premium. Every time in the
expanding step (the second one in installation) I get error message 0x80070003 stating some files cannot be found. What is wrong, obviously all the files I have are on the disk. I am clean installing it on a wiped hard drive that I format with the Home Premium disk prior to installing. Someone please help. |

Is this an upgrade disk or the full retail version? If it's an upgrade, it
needs to start from within windows. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "nharmon91" wrote in message ... I have tried at least 5 times now to install Home Premium. Make sure that no other drives are plugged into the system, especially in
the USB ports. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "nharmon91" wrote in message ... Its not an upgrade, it is full retail version. I have the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and ethernet plugged in. Nothing else.

Intallation error 0x80070003, cannot install Vista
I've been getting exactly the same problem as this when trying to install
Vista Ultimate from an OEM disc. It stalls between 3-5% through expanding files. I've also tried upgrading from Windows XP Pro (SP2) and experienced the same issue- the install does not complete. I've tried reformatting and repartitioning the drive I'm installing onto (both using the option within the install interface and also plugging the HDD into a different machine running Vista for a full format), as well as using alternate install media. None of this has been successful, and since then my PC (with a fresh install of WinXP in the interim) will not recognise the HDD unless the WinXP CD is in the drive. I have yet to try a flat install (will have a crack at it this evening), though I don't hold out much hope. |

You need to change the boot order in your Bios.

Really? To what? I just tell it to boot from the CD drive and once installed
it will boot from the HDD "Wizard" wrote: You need to change the boot order in your Bios. I just tried 2 more installs, a 6th or a 7th time total. Still same problem.
I also shuffle the boot order in my bios and still no change. "nharmon91" wrote: Really? To what? Ahead of you there- tried running with HDD first, DVD drive first and HDD
only (DVD removed from boot order) with no luck. The problem's still the Vista install. I can get it to start, but five minutes in it gives out as nharmon91 describes. Could this be due to having a SATA HDD connected, whether being used in the install or not? I'll try disconnecting the SATA and running the install with the IDE only and see if that makes any difference. "Wizard" wrote: You need to change the boot order in your Bios.
