Default How do you DELETE a computer from the network?

I renamed my Computer to ROD from RODS

Now RODS shows up in the network map under a device or computer that cant be
placed in the MAP.....when you click on it it isnt there (nothing listed in
it...in fact a dialog box comes up to the effect

Windows cannot access \\RODS

....because IT"S NOT THERE anymore, I renamed my COMPUTER...but it's still
listed....

HOW CAN I delete it??? Pls

It (RODS) simply just disappeared. All good from that perpective...somehow

Now the wifes XP Pro machine can see the DAVIES workgroup, can see the
computer named ROD but gets the

" \\rod is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
resource"

dialog box.

Getting closer...I think!

Computer browser takes time. The old computer name may take for a while to disappear.

Regarding the \\rod is not accessible, it could be firewall, name resolution and computer browser issues. Can you do net use \\rodip? Note: replace the IP address of rod instead of rod.

You can speed things up by turning off every computer in the LAN at the
same time, then power them all back up again. This avoids any stale
data from getting tossed around as they renegotiate over who gets to be
the master browser.

Insert something clever here.
