I just updated to Vista and when I try to launch my RDP client I get advised
the program has been shut down and the help advises that Data Execution Prevention seems to be blocking it. I can't find the .exe file that runs the program so that I can add it to allow it to run. any ideas? |

You should see the path to the program. I think something else is causing the problem. I use Remote Desktop a lot on Vista Business and Ultimate with no DEP problems. I think some other program is causing the problem. You should see some entries in the event logs that may give some clues as to what else may be causing it. -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca |

Thanks Kerry,
I checked that out and found program mstsc.exe and I tried to exclude it from the DER settings, but, it would not allow that as it says it is a windows service. Still can not get this to work and I even tried the web version and it even crashes out. Error is as follows: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 4/11/2007 2:00:38 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: 8SQPDC1.bickerton Description: Faulting application mstsc.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549b425, faulting module sdrdp5.dll, version 3.5.1.32, time stamp 0x426803b7, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00007390, process id 0xac4, application start time 0x01c77c634f441a16. It may not be Vista compatible. -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca |
