i have been trying to work this out:
have a home network adsl router with wireless connecting via ethernet to a xp desktop and a vista laptop wirelessly. the vista can see the xp through full network map: vista === WAp===Gateway==internet || XP ====Switch they have the same workgroup name and can ping ip but not by name. tried that network magic program which would see each other but not access and their site syas its firewall related but i have removed all firewall software and disbled the windows firewall. |

1. If you can ping the IP but name, make sure netbios over tcp/ip is enabled.

I can ping by ip but not name and netbios is enabled on both machines

What do you receive it if using net use \\remotepcipaddress? Post back with the system error code.
