Default Setting up a home network

Hi
I am thinking about setting up a wireless network in my house. I have less
than 100 ft. between computers. One would be hard wired and runs XP, the
other would be wireless and run Vista Home Premium. I would like it to be
Bluetooth compatible. I would like to have it so that no one out side of may
network could see my conection, have data encripted and lots of security. I
would like it to be expandible. This conection would be used primarily for
gaming. I have a 5.8 GHz cordless phone and don't want interferance. My son
aventually wants to hook his X Box to the internet through this. I have been
looking and reading reviews on New Egg and am a little confused. Dose any one
have any thought on equipment, reliability and compatability? Thanks for the
input. Have fun, Rick

You could many different opinions of which router or manufacturer is the
best. I would suggest you peruse the following forums. Some of the posts
will likely offer recommendations. Don't be distressed by all the problem
posting, they all have issues.

DSL Reports has many other forums related to security and networking as
well. My recommendation is to select a wireless router vendor and model
which provides the highest level of encryption and authentication. I
currently use the Linksys WRT300N which supports 802.11b,g,n and WEP, PSK,
PSK2, WPA, WPA2, TKIP, and AES. It automatically seeks the clearest radio
channels so phones, microwaves should not be an issue.
