i got a weird one for you.
I have a home network with 1 Mac OS 10.4.9, 2 XP machines SP2, one with LLTD patch, other without and a Vista Business. Router is a speedstream 6520 modem/router. Problem: When i go to view network map, i only see the XP box with LLTD. Yesterday, and this occured a few days back as well, i could see everything, all the machines but at the bottom of the view (which is fine). Now if i clicked on "view computers and devices" because i am trying to connect to the computers via a GUI, i dont see anything (not even the LLTD box, just itself, Vista and the router). Just like above, i was able to see them yesterday and a few days back... Nothing has changed, only thing i can think of if the sleep mode that kicked in overnight? I want vista to see and display the other machines Here is what i did or checked: *i can ping all machines from Vista *i can connect to the machines via \\IPaddress *they are all on the same workgroup *i do have network detection and file sharing enabled *Firewall has been turned off *i am clicking on the refresh symbol in my device window to update changes *i have tried rebooting multiple times since i started troubleshooted this issue *i dont have 3rd party firewall or AV installed on Vista nor XP boxes *i have disabled IPv6 on NIC of Vista computer *all accounts have multiple user accounts with passwords and i can connect to them I just dont get what causes my working network to "dissapear" from the display in Vista when it's there the day before and no reboot or changes made... I hope you guys have an answer, i'm losing my mind over this. |

Make sure you follow these guidelines. Also, set all computers to use NetBIOS
over TCPIP in the properties for the network connection. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/net.../vista_fp.mspx |

Check to see if the fire wall you are using has an intrusion prevention built
into it. Nortons Internet Security does, and it's seperate from the firewall. This is what screwed up my network. I found once I went into intrusion prevention and added each network pc ip into the trusted page it all went away. Linda "Cedric" wrote: i got a weird one for you.
