I've got an Intel SS-4000E Network Storage System that I use to backup a
number of my computers. The three machines running XP have no difficulty using the software provided with the NSS. The software will not load on Vista. Claims it's too OLD a version of Windows. :-) So, how about the backup utility in Vista? It can find the share I've set up on the NSS, but when I try to use it to backup to the NSS I get the following error message: "Cannot create a file when that file already exists (0x800700B7) Please ensure that the network location is valid." Now, I can copy files to the NSS using Windows Explorer without any difficulty. So I know the computer can talk to the NSS. And the backup utility creates a new directory in the right place (with an extremely long, extremely cryptic name) each time I try to run the utility. So I know the computer and NSS are talking to each other. What gives? What do I need to do to make this work? I'd really like to be able to fire up the process and go to bed, rather than have to come back every hour or so to get another major directory (documents, pictures, etc) to copy to the NSS. Thanks. |
