I see from this group that I'm not alone with this sort of problem. In my
case I have a network at home with 2 desktops connected by wires through a wireless ADSL router (1 XP and one 98) and a wireless network for a laptop (also XP) Everything has been working great for a year or more until last week I added a new desktop with Vista Home Premium using wire. I have been experiencing some of the problems talked about here (can't see all the folders on the Vista machine I would like to) but my main gripe is a speed issue. When I transfer files from the Vista machine to any of the other machines they fly across as you would expect, but when I try to transfer into it they are incredibly slow, e.g. talking several minutes for a 5mb music file. Also the internet speed on the Vista machine is about half what it should be. It seems anything going into it is being restricted. I have worked solid for several days now, switching off and on Windows firewall, changing wires between machines, reconfiguring and undoing it again but I have got absolutely nowhere. I checked the site for my router, a Safecom 4 port ADSL router, and they say it has no issues with Vista. If anyone could give me some advice I would be very grateful |

There might be a simple resolution to slow file transfers...goto control panel and open "Programs and features" then click "turn windows features on or off" then scroll down and untick "Windows DFS replication service". -- dmex |
