Hello all. I need a bit of help. I have been tearing my hair out for a few
days now. My mother has a Desktop computer with XP Home SP2 installed. She just bought a laptop with Vista. After a few days getting the Laptop to play nice with the wireless network I have hit a brick wall. My mother has a printer that is hard wired to the XP computer. She wants to be able to print from the laptop to this printer. The problem is, the printer is a USB printer from Lexmark. I have tried everything I could to try to get the Vista machine to print. The laptop has the drivers installed, all permissions are set correctly on both computers. If I connect the printer to the laptop via the USB I can print. And when the printer is connected the the desktop XP system, Vista does see it. I just get an error message everytime I try to print that says some archaic error message with a nunch of 0000000. I researched this error message on the net and found that ther is a possible known compatibility issue with Vista and wireless networks and trying to access USB printers through the wireless network. Anyone out there know if this is true and if so, how do I get the Vista machine to print through the wireless network onto the USB printer. Thanks |

Thanks Set it up as a LOCAL printer, with a port named \\other-machine-name\printer-share-name. This was the subject of an earlier thread. Here is the earlier info...
