Does your domain use DNS or WINS for name resolution?

If you use broadcast based name resolution, you probably have a standard Windows
Networking issue.
# Make sure that NetBT is Enabled consistently (Enable or Disable, but BE
CONSISTENT).
# Make sure that all personal firewalls are properly setup.
# Make sure that name resolution is consistently setup.

Default joining ultimate vista to nt4 domain

I just got a new pc, dual boot xp and vista ultimate (build 6001) and I can't get the vista side to join the NT4 domain for anything. It only wants to join active directory.

we had another vista pc at work a few months ago and i got it to join, and see network shares by lowering the network security policy, but ultimate doesn't have the same options
any help is appreciated

Do you have WINS server? If not, try to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Please
post back with the result.
