Default Online Gaming/Not Able to Connect

For the past two days, I have been trying to get Ultima Online and EverQuest
II to connect to their respective servers, but each time I try, I keep
getting an error that says I need to have an active internet connection. I
have posted on technical support/forums for both games, but everything that
everyone has suggested failed to work. I've tried opening ports on my router,
running as DMZ host, but nothing!

Is there something I'm missing in Vista's Network that needs to be turned
on/off, tweaked, or something? I've pinged the servers that UO uses, and
there isn't a problem in that area. I just don't know. I've tried using what
computer knowledge I have, but I can't seem to get anything to work.
