Default Wireless connection is limited to local

I have a Lynksys USB wireless adapter (WUSB54GC), I downloaded the Vista
drivers, it connects to my router but only on a limited connection, I have
yet to be able to connect to the interenet. Sometimes it will show it as
connected but it will still not connect to the internet. My router is hooked
up to an XP machine and both the router and the USB wireless adapter are
wireless-G. It detects my router but it won't connect to the internet, any
suggestions?
