Default Wireless networking issue=bad for gaming.

i have seen someone else ask this before but i couldnt find it. from others,
i think the problem is that vista's wireless is always searching for a better
network to connect to. that searching cause any noticable problems while
surfing, but in online gaming the problems are extremely annoying. e.g.
freezing for a few seconds and choppy movement. in games like day of defeat,
where i can monitor the connection with a net_graph command, loss and choke
are very high, especially at moments of choppyness and freezing.

there has been one temporary fix for me: i turn off autoconfig through the
command prompt everytime i start up my computer, but this should be an
unecesary splinter in the balls. i shouldnt have to do this all the time.
besides, playing with autoconfig on somehow increases my frames per second.

to put my question in one sentence: how do i stop my computer from looking
for better networks all the time without having to turn off autoconfig.

by the way, i have the "connect to a more preferred network" box unchecked
in network and sharing center/view status/properties. and it doesnt work.

thanks for any help.
