Hi
I have just bought a Acer Aspire laptop (Vista) and I have a desktop running Win Me. The laptop has WiFi built in. In the desktop I have a Realteck RTL8319 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC which connects to my D-Link DSL-524T Router to give me my internet connection. In the desktop I also have a SMCWPCIT-G 108 Mbs Wireless PCI Adapter. When I installed the latter, although the PCI card installed correctly (In win DM), the software would not install, saying it was not compatible with Win Me. I have emailed SMC support but no reply after 5 days yet. Basically, I want my new laptop to access my desktop using the wireless card in my desktop and to share the internet connection. I want to be able to share/copy files to my new laptop from my Desktop. I am not trying to access Vista from Me. I have no idea how to set up the SMC Wireless Card using Win Me Networking. I guess my problem is that the SMC software will not install When this is done, will my laptop just "see" my desktop? Any help setting up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Nigel |
