When trying to access a POP3 or SMTP server, both Outlook 2007 and Windows
Mail don't remember the password, despite being requested to do so via the checkbox. All account settings are correct and when the password is entered, mail is retrieved or sent, as the case may be. I'm using Vista Home Premium as installed on a new laptop and a fresh installation of Office 2007. I've asked the question on the Outlook newsgroup, but since it affects Windows Mail too, it was suggested I ask here. How do I get Outlook or Vista, whichever is responsible to remember my password? I've noticed several others have the same problem, as well. Thanks from all of us in advance. |

Some antivirus programs can corrupt saved passwords. If you have McAfee or Norton antivirus, uninstall it. Reboot and try Windows Mail again. Once you get your email working properly, download and install a less intrusive antivirus program such as the free Avast. Whichever antivirus program you keep, be sure to disable its email scanning option. Gary VanderMolen "Thundercell" wrote in message ...
