Hi Everyone,
I seems to encounter this alot with windows vista and im not sure how to get around it. Here is my example problem: i have a vista basic laptop with all updated drivers and when i connected to my first network at work i had no problems going out to the internet or sharing files. then i took it home. When i plugged into the internet at home i managed to get connected as well. I then took my laptop to the cottage and i have normal high speed there but i cant get connected. When i look at the network and sharing centre when im plugged in the diagram shows my computer connected to the network (router) fine but the connection from the router to the internet doenst show that its connected. everyone else in the house is fine so i know its not the internet, and it cant be the nic drivers cause it works everywhere else. I have had this with other computers as well. Must be soemthing to do with the os that im missing..any help? please, |

jennyjen, Have you checked your network connection to see if you have both IPv4 and IPv6 both enabled? It seems to me that you have a DNS problem with either your ISP or the locations you are trying to connect to. Have you linked your network card with the identifying numbers on your modem or router? Call the ISP for your cottage and they will fix the problem for you. Let me know if this helps you. Have a nice day. C.B. |

If so, if you double click it and select repair / renew IP address does it connect to the internet fine then? M. |

jennyjen,
I'm sorry you're experiencing trouble. Are you still having the problem? How do you know you're not connected when at the cottage? Can you browse using Internet Explorer to www.msn.com?
