I have a new Vista Home Premium machine with Office 2007. I also have
another (in a long list of posts) problem with Outlook connecting with my office's Exchange server through VPN. I have my laptop (XP-Pro and Office 2003) sitting right next to the new Vista machine. Both are configured identically. Both have windows firewall turned on and are running AVG Pro anti-virus. The Vista/Office 2007 machine takes several hours to eventually connect with the Exchange server. All I can do is (after establishing the VPN) open Outlook and wait; one, two, maybe as long as three hours while Outlook tries to connect to Exchange. After it finally does connect, the connection is stable. Based on the number of posts on this subject, I believe MS is aware of this problem but I've not found a fix. Am I missing something? After reading through what seems like thousands of posts, I haven't run into any fixes. If anyone has a suggestion, it would be appreciated. I probably should have followed my initial instincts and waited until MS introduced Service Pack 1. Thanks |

No responses; so I'll reply to myself. I notice MS had no inclination to
reply either. Well, after going out and dropping another $200 + dollars to upgrade to Vista Ultimate, I could not find the additional network tools they advertised to try to rectify the inability of Outlook to connect via VPN with any regularity to my office Exchange server. So, those of you who are having difficulty with Premium and Outlook 2007 shouldn't think that buying Ultimate will always solve your problem. My problem didnt' change a bit after upgrading. So, I ended up doing what I should have done in the first place. That is, connect Outlook 2007 to Exchange through a https/rpc connection. The SSL certificate cost me $89 dollars and I wouldn't have had to buy the Ultimate upgrade. Now I don't have any problems. "dean" wrote: I have a new Vista Home Premium machine with Office 2007.
