Default Help!, My computers cant access file from each other!!!!!

Help!
I have Desktop computer running XP Pro SP2, a ASUS laptop using Vista
Premium(Utilising its own Wireless network adapter), a Netgear router and
Netgear adaptor on the XP Desktop. I can ping both computers from each other
and the wireless router from both machines from within command prompt, So
there is a link! Both machines access the internet fine, In order to join the
network, securely, I have used WEP with EXACTLY the same access key, works
fine, I can see both computers in the WORKGROUP on the XP machine and can see
both on the Network map on the Vista machine. However, when i double click
the computers, it says access denied, or on the vista machine, within the
network map, it wont even let click the desktop computer to explore it.The
problem is that I cant access files from one machine to the other, I used to
have the XP Machine linked to the router Via a ethernet cable (No wireless
adapter)and all was good, could see and access shared files on each of the
computers, access shared printer on the XP Machine from the Vista laptop no
problems, all my settings match each other on the network, the only
difference between the two is that one is running XP Pro SP2, and the other
is running Vista Premium.
I would appreciate any help, this is frustrating the hell outta me!!!

It will tell a bit about permissions and if you have missed anything.

Thanks Jim, for the help, but still no joy, just to clear a few things up,
the Printer is shared on the XP Desktop, before I made the XP Desktop
witreless, everything was able to accessed fine (If it was shared out) from
the XP Machine to the Vista Laptop, its only started playing up since the
wireless adaptor has been installed, the workgroup name is exactly the same
on both computers, I disabled IPv6 on both, just using Ipv 4 on them, I can
still see each computer on the network map, but cannot access one from the
other on each computer

Default Help!, My computers cant access file from each other!!!!!

My Vista home premium on a Sony Vaio laptop is doing the same thing. It
sucks!! I can see workgroup Pcs but cant access the files and use the printer
connected.

A sales guy told me this feature is only on Business edition.....and wants
me to upgrade....

Microsoft should educate customers on how to network, If you cant network
these days having a PC is a waste of time...

Ive got Vista home premium, sounds like a cheap sales ply from the sales guy
your dealing with!
Its crazy, I can network fine, its only since going full wireless that this
problem has come up, when I link the computer to ethernet port of the netgear
router, everything works fine!

This is soooo frustrating!

Start by looking at the exact text of the "access denied" error, make sure it's
not a known problem.
http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/01/look-at-complete-detail-in-error.html
http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/0...-in-error.html

Is the XP computer using a WiFi Netgear adapter? What you see in the Workgroup
(Windows Explorer) can be cached from the Ethernet connection.

Look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer, and diagnose
the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat!):
