Alright so as everyone knows Offline Files has just a few issues, so here is mine. I have a Windows 2003 Server R2, and it is hosting my roaming profiles. Now I happen to have a big music/video collection say 80 GB. That might be an exaggeration, but the main idea is it is enough that I don't want to make it available offline. Because that means wasting a few gigs on multiple computers because I setup my folder redirection profile to redirect every user profile on every computer to the same Videos and Music folder, that way we have one mass collection and no dubs. Now my question is simple how do I prevent the Videos and Music Folder under any user from having Offline Files? Because last I looked I clicked on say 'coyote' (my username) and then right-clicked on videos then go to the offline tab, then stare in wonder at the greyed out "Always available offline" check box that is unfortunately checked! I know the question is normally reversed but I actually don't want to keep offline version of avi and mp3 files. This is all on test server and two computer client, so I can help people solve these issues in the real world. Thanks. - Coyote! -- CoyoteWAN |

Hi,
Do you not want the pictures and videos redirected to a network location at all? Or do you want them redirected but not made available offline? And you do want your documents to still be available. Right? Thanks, Shubhankar "CoyoteWAN" wrote in message ... Alright so as everyone knows Offline Files has just a few issues, so here is mine. I want videos and music to be redirected to a common directory for every user (I have yet to figure out how to make that happen). I also want all my files except videos and music to be available offline. So my documents and pictures should be available offline. But my music and videos should not be as they are 30 GB+. Does that clear things up? P.S.: Documents and pictures and bookmarks, etc, etc are all per user basis the only redirects that are common is videos and music. -- CoyoteWAN |

I am not sure that you selectively not make redirected things available
offline. I have forwarded you query to the folder redirection folks and will update this thread once I hear from them. Thanks, Shubhankar "CoyoteWAN" wrote in message ... If I am remembering correct than your answar should be as follows:
1. Open GPMC 2. Right click on the group policy You are using to redirect those folders 3. Select Edit, This will open another window for GPO Editor 4. Go to Computer Configuration-Administrative Templates-Network-Offline Files 5. If You just click once Offline Files, it will show you all the different settings available for Offline Files 6. Double click Allow or Disallow use of the Offline Files feature and Disable this settings. This should do the job. If not check all other settings should be some where there or under User Configuration. Test this before use. Hope that helps |

Alright I disabled those features as well. Although I some how already fixed the issue in some way. Not sure how, I just changed some folder redirection so with any luck my computer wont crash tomorrow, but with any probably it will. So see ya in a few days, when I have a my computer up and running again! :sarc: -- CoyoteWAN |
