Hi
I just spent about an hour on the phone with the Videotron (my ISP) technical support lteam and they could not help me configure the Internet connection settings on my home PC. Recently I installed Windows Vista (Business edition) on this machine and ever since, I have been unable to connect to the Internet. Whenver I try to set-up a new connection, neither of the 2 options present seem appropriate - I use a cable connection that is always on and Videotron tells me I do not need a username or a password and that they use DHTP instread of PPoE to connect. Thus, I can neither use the Dial-Up option nor the Broadband option as that keeps asking me for a username and password, and I have none. If I set up the connection without this information, IE does not recognize any active connections. My ISP says the problem is with Vista. I can not be sure about that, but currently, there seems to be no other reason why this problem would occur to begin with. I would appreciate if anyone could post a suitable fix for this problem. I could always downgrade my system to XP, but I would much rather not have to do that. Thanks. |
