Default No internet!

Hello! I have had a HP laptop for almost a month now and the only way i can
get it online is through dial-up. i have a broadband modem and if i plug it
directly into that it will not load. I have AOL as my ISP. i tried setting up
a wireless network, with a computer that is running Xp sp2 as the main
computer and it shows im connected, but AOL still won't load. i cannot get
IE7 (internet explorer) to load without AOL being online. if anyone can help,
it would be appreciated. thanks in advanced.

I don't use AOL...but is it possible that the dial-up subscription is
independent from the broadband subscription and you have to subscribe to the
broadband version?

But it's not clear if your Vista machine is able to connect to the internet
and it's just the AOL page that will not load or if it cannot connect to the
internet in general. That's an important distinction. It would help if you
could provide some additional detail.

You are purchasing your broadband from AOL? Is it cable or DSL?

What do you mean that you setting up a wireless network, with a computer
that is running XP sp2 as the main computer? Were you using a wireless
router or trying to set up an ICS connection (which is also a special issue
with AOL broadband).

AOL broadband does not work the same as standard providers. If you clarify
the above info, I'll advise further.
