(this is my first post ever) Welcome to the forum. Your problem, when reported here (and it does get reported here a lot), is usually caused by a misconfigured personal firewall, or the NetBT setting is inconsistently set on the computers. Read my articles, and follow the links in the articles, for explanations, please. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/07/advanced-windows-networking-using.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/0...ing-using.html Or we could look at the logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. My email is AT DOT actual address pchuck mvps org. |

I worked it out how to get vista to see the shared files of my windows xp. After putting the workgroup right and getting the addon from windows xp to be seen on my network all i had to do is allow my vista to connect to the computer but adding a trusted ip of my vista in the Norton Firewall on the xp |
