Hello Gurus:
I recently installed Vista Ultimate on my pc and the downloads in IE7 are at a crawling speed. I have a Comcast 6Mbs Cable connection and it is connected to my PC via a Linksys WRT54G router. The connection to the PC from the router is a wired one. When I connect my Macbook to the Router (wirelessly) and run a speed test, I can hit speeds of upto 5Mbps, but the Desktop Vista machine refuses to even complete the speed test. I updated all the firmware on the Router, did a system restore (like MS Support told me to), but nothing helped. I even got rid of the router and connected the PC directly to the cable modem but again I cannot download at more then 12 Kbps / sec. I disable IPv6 from the sharing protocol as some websites suggested, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. |

Just an update, I tried doing the speed test with Firfox and that does not
work either. Speed test fails to complete because server times out. I read some earlier posts and they said about removing some stuff. So this is what else I have done. 1. Turned off phishing filter in IE 2. Uninstalled McAfee (both AW and Firewall) 3. Turned off Windows firewall. All this still does not help. I still cannot get more than 12 Kbps download whereas I have a 6 MBPS line working perfectly |
