note: even after applying the changes suggested by that pages, i stil
cant uninstall many programs. panel programs just doesnt show the
'uninstall' options for many programs, like vs2005 and most things that
came with the pc.
hope sp1 will fix this...

thank you. the page dates from Saturday, July 30, 2005. a bit before vista
was out, i fear. i wasnt speaking of a vs problem. *this* vista system just
doesnt allow me to uninstall vs2005, nor all the roxios, the java machine,
and many others.

as for uninstalling 2005, on my xp work machine i installed it, then vs
2008, then uninstalled 2005 --and 2008 stopped working despite 3 more
uninstall/reinstalls.

a friend pointed to a page with the suggest to completely erase a vs 2008
key from the registry, then reinstall it anew. it worked.

as i installed both from msdn original dvd's, final versions, not betas (i
got thru the beta in 2005, and the mess was even worse) and both take long
minutes writing and unwriting in the registry, the least i can tell is that
i wouldnt expect such behaviors.
