Default Error message display driver igfx stopped responding

Hello,

Same issue with Compaq Presario V2000 with Intel Celeron Processor
clocked to 1.4 GHZ. But I don't get the message whilst playing WOW but
durning games such as Frets on Fire and Ocular Ink. Yet My message says
something to this effect:

"The Ialmrt5 (refers to display drivers note) drivers has stopped
responding. Please save your work and reboot and you will be prompted by
a message that you can send to Microsoft."

Also 2 times did I see the blue screen of death, but I could not read
what was causing it before it rebooted my system. Is it hardware issues
or is it just software (driver) related issues? The Blue screen of death
is only recent (post reformat).

I run the default os which is Win XP Home with SP2. I even reformatted
the whole entire drive and am still coming up with this error later on.

Thanks

Vernon VonHinkelschmidt

Sounds like the graphics chip is overheating or drawing too much power due
to the game activity.

That might be the case even though I bought a fancy laptop cooling pad
from Belkin and am using that 24/7. This problem is just recent (as in
within the past 3 weeks)

Then try using your vacuum cleaner to suck out any dust that may have been
sucked into the laptop fans.

I got my lap top about a month ago and for about 2 weeks now I have been
recievig this message and I dont play any games on my lap top. It doesnt
matter what im doing it goes balck for like 3 to 5 seconds and then the
essage pops up. I am wondering if I should take it back to the store and
get them to fix it. Or is there a simple way for me to fix it ( I dont
know much about computers). Thanks and have a great day.

Go to the laptop manufacturer's webside, imput your model and look for
updated graphics/display drivers. If there updated drivers, download and
install them and see if the problem is resolved.

It appears that this thread has been inactive for some months but I am
hoping that someone will see and respond to this post.

I have been suffering this problem when attempting to play The Sims 3.

I have tried both of these quoted steps:

Start by examining a Vista report that logs problems and recommends
solutions. To look at the report, click on Start All Programs
Maintenance Problem Reports and Solutions.

But there are never any reports.

Another step is to search for incompatible drivers installed on your
computer. Do this by clicking on Start and then on Run. In the space
provided, type sigverif.exe and click on OK.

After doing this nothing is listed.

My PC is a Dell Inspiron 545
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 2.33GHz
4.00 GB RAM
32-bit Operating System

And my graphics card is:
Generic PnP Monitor on Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family

I have been searching on the internet for several days without any luck,
the troubleshooting section of the game booklet offers nothing useful,
and I have spoken with the techguys at PC world who say they don't know
what could be causing it.

If anyone can offer me any advice I would be extremely grateful.
