Default Vista - XP Pro Wireless Networking

Laptop with vista business, desktop wih xp pro. Laptop has wireless A/G card,
desktop has wireless g card. Niether system will see the other. Installed MS
KB fix for xp that allows xp to show up in vista network map. Last night I
could see the laptop from the desktop but could not connect to it. I could
not connect to or see the desktop from the latop. Each system could ping the
other and both systems connect to the internet and email with no problem.
Also, both systems are running Norton 2007 firewall and anti virus. Totally
disabled Norton, still could not connect to either system from the other.
Started again this morning and after changing nothing now I get the following
error on the xp system when I try to browse to the vista system " workgroup
is not accessable...".

Any time you involve WiFi with the need to "see" as well as access another
computer, you have a challenge. And mixing Windows Vista and XP presents
another set of challenges, though not insurmountable ones.

Totally disabling Norton frequently requires removing it from the computer.

Make sure that NetBT is enabled on both computers.

If you have just 2 computers, disable the browser on one, then restart both
computers. I like to use desktop systems for my browser, you are free to make
your own decision here.
