If Sony does not make them available there is nothing else to be done.

abcd,

There are several options:

1. Contact Sony (via website Support) and ask whether Vista drivers will be
made available and when.

2. Install your WinXP drivers (if you can) and see how they work. You might
luck out. You won't know unless you try (perhaps you already have).

3. If you can install the WinXP software/drivers (above) on Vista, but they
don't work, try running it in compatibility mode. Right click the shortcut,
select Properties, then click on the Compatibility tab and choose run as
WinXP/SP-2. That's all I have. Anyone else

If the TRV19 is USB only you're out of luck. You'll be waiting a long time
for Sony to create the drivers. As much as I love Sony's products if MS
wrote the driver in XP then Sony is not going to write a Vista driver.

I have an old TRV33 and Vista x86 had no problem recognizing it when it was
connected via Firewire.

I was running Vista x64 until I hooked up my camcorders and found that MS
decided to leave the Firewire drivers out of x64, but they put them in x86.
Called Sony and asked them and they said call MS. Called MS and got the
response call Sony.

Attach via firewire and not USB. Vista will see it right away and prompt
you to import video. Does not compress well so make sure you have plenty
of space. 1 hr = 13GB.

Hope this helps.

I know this thread to be very old & though it is, it is important as up
to date that people should know to connect this particular Sony model
"DCR-TRV 19 " is by using a IEEE 1394 B *4-Pin/6-Pin *
(Please note that pin connection differs from a laptop to a desktop)
FireWire.
Happy trails.
