Default Connecting to a Secure Wireless Network

I recently purchased a wireless router for my apartment so that I can have
the wonderfull convinience of haveing internet anywhere in my home. Being the
somewhat tech savvy I am, I used a WEP security key to secure my network from
prying eyes. The router configured seemlessly. The next step was to connect
to the router wirelessly.

A day later I was frustrated at how confusing the supposedly user friendly
Vista Ultimate connection dialogues were. I know I have a security key, and I
know what it is, just tell me where to enter it! After many unsuccessfull
attempts I decided to add the network manually. This was the only way I found
that I could enter the security key and its properties, which worked fine!

My suggestion to microsoft is for God's sake make connecting to wireless
networks easy again, like in good old XP. In XP you found a network, double
clicked to connect, and if the network was secured XP would ask for the
password and/or other authentifications. Its a simple process really, which
any moron should be able to do. So why make it hard again?

P.S. If there really is an easier way to connect to secure wireless
networks, please let me know, as I have failed to find one yet. And also my
appologies to Microsoft if there is!

Please do

what happens when you right click the wireless connection icon in
the system tray near the clock and select connect to a network?

By the way, you should change from WEP to WPA2 or at least WPA. WEP
is not safe and easily cracked. You live in a MDU in close proximity
to other tenants and are at risk.
