Default Cannot acces shared files over Network

We are running a small business network with two vista ultimate machines and
one XP machine. These machine all access the internet seperately through a
router. After changing the workgroup name all computers appear on the
Network. The two vista machines can access the XP machine and all its shared
files and folders. None of the machines can access the vista shared files and
folders, but the printer sharing works. The network discovery, file sharing,
public folder sharing, printer sharing are all on. Password protected sharing
and media sharing are off.

We keep receiving the messgae \\Computer\folder is not accessible. You might
not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the admin of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is Denied.

The share permissions on all the folders are set to Everyone with Full
Control.

Please let me know if there is anyhting I am missing in order to make this
work.

I also have the same printer (and disk) sharing problem. I have 3 XP
machines and 1 Vista machine networked. I can see all the XP machines
(shared printers and disks) from the Vista machine and from each of the other
XP machines, but I cannot see the Vista machine (disk or printers) from any
of the XP machines.

Printer sharing and disk sharing is turned on on the Vista Machine. If I
attempt to install a networked printer (physically attached to the Vista
machine) on an XP machine, I don't even "see" the Vista machine when I browse
to attempt to install a network printer.

So far, my impression of Vista is that it is a big step backward from XP.

We are not trying to access remotely. When we share the files and try to
access them from a different machine we receive the messgae \\Computer\folder
is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the admin of this server to find out if you have access
permissions. Access is Denied.

All machines can see each other and can access the public folder but is
there a way to share the files over a network without moving them into the
public folder without receiving the access denied message.

Default Cannot acces shared files over Network

I am having this very same problem, I can access the public folder of vista
from my xp rig, but no matter the amount of permissions i give to any other
folder i want to share, xp gives me the {pc name} is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this network... etc...

I assume if i bring what i want to share into the public folder it will
work, but whats the point of that. I want to be able to share any folder not
just what I dump into my public folder.
