Default Diagnose and repair: Turn on tcp performance improving settings?

In Vista, I happened to click on "Diagnose and repair" in Network Sharing
Center the other day and received this:

"The TCP setting needs to be adjusted to improve network performance."

And the button to click was this: Turn on tcp performance improving
settings.

Unfortunately, it gives no detail. Is it normal to see this? What TCP
setting? Wouldn't all settings already be tweaked by virtue of Vista being
installed and it doing whatever self-tuning it does?

Hi Milhouse,

This is an optimization setting for your router. Normally, this is turned on
and runs in the background. For some reason it was turned off. It is
recommended that you turn it back on to get the best performance out of your
network.

Hi Charlene,
Could you give a bit more technical detail about the actual router
optimization made?
Thanks
