I am unable to add the company's new computer to the domain. I attempt to use
the netwrok ID wizard, however, i continue to get an error after the 3rd screen. The error is: "your computer could not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred: An attampt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain." Any help or advisement would be highly appreciated |

Make sure the Vista computer is using the correct DNS server. It should be pointing to an Active Directory DNS server and no other ones.

I had the exact same problem. What I did was the following: Opened the TCP/IP Properties of my network adaptor Under "Use the following DNS server addresses" enter the IP address of the server where you have setup the domain controller Now when you try to add the Windows Vista machine it should work. -- dgobat ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dgobat's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/124487.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-v...ork/761207.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
