Default Wireless G backup (Acronis) orders of magnitude faster than thrunetwork cable, to XP machine

I started an Acronis backup wirelessly, and after i saw the estimated
time it would take to complete, I figured I would be smart to switch to
an ethernet cable connection thru the Netgear router. I restarted
Acronis, and watched its progress for more than 15 minutes. It didnt
even get to 1%. The wireless connection backup got past 3% in far less
time, so I switched back to wireless mode.

Anyone know where the fault lies? Vista? networking settings? router
settings? acronis? Just seems illogical that the wireless mode is far
faster than using an ethernet cable.

Did you check to make sure the wired connection was operating at 100Mbps? If
it was only 10Mbps it could easily be slower than wireless.

Boot from the Acronis Recovery CD and try the backup. That will eliminate Vista
as a source of the problem.
