Default REPLACEMENT FOR MS PICTURE IT!???

Hi all, I used to use Picture It also and loved it's capabilities. I
am so fed up trying to find a replacement programme that comes anywhere
close to PI. They are either too confusing to use, or cost the earth to
buy.

I am furious with Microsoft. They want to bring out these new OS, but
never allow your previous programmes to work, therefore leaving you no
other choice but to buy new ones. I know the price of computers have
come down greatly, but it still works out expensive having to buy all
new programmes.

I am yet to have found a replacement photo editing programme that does
all the tasks I require. As it stands, I use about 3 different
programes to the same tasks that PI done for me.

The successor to MS Picture It was MS Digital Image.

The latest and last version was:
"Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 Anniversary Edition"
(this software will run on XP and is optimized for Vista)

There's still a 60 day trial version you can download if
you want to try it.

Microsoft Digital Image
Starter Edition 2006
http://tinyurl.com/28loxr
or...
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
(this product line has been
discontinued but you can still
download the Starter Version
and run it for 60 days)

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and it does
not include the clipart and pre-formatted
projects.

Even though the product line is discontinued...
it is still possible to find copies at online sites
like Amazon and eBay.

I found the answer to running Picture It on Vista at another forum.
Right-click on the Picture It! icon and run as administrator. It worked
for me!

I'm using Picture It! version 2 still but would love to find a newer
version of a compatible software. The newspaper and magazine covers
that Picture It creates with a minimum of fuss is very nice. I know
this is an old thread but does anyone know of anything that comes close
to the functionality that Picture It had?
