That's a desktop publishing program not an image editing program. The latest and last version of Digital Image Suite would be the current replacement for Picture It!. "Microsoft Digital Image Suite Anniversary Edition" This software line has been discontinued but some retails stores could still have copies for sale. Also check on eBay for availability. There's a 60 day trial version available for download if you would like to give it a try: Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006 http://tinyurl.com/28loxr (this product line has been discontinued but you can still down-load the Starter Version and run it for 60 days) Unlike the retail version...the trial does not have the ability to create VCDs and it does not include the clipart and pre-formatted projects. -- John Inzer MS Picture It! - Digital Image MVP Digital Image Highlights and FAQs http://tinyurl.com/aczzp Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk |

I see that this is an old thread but I have not been able to find an adequate replacement for Picture It. Digital Image is gone too, and it wasn't nearly as good as Picture It anyway. PI did everything I needed and was quick and easy to understand. Picture It users: what are you using now? Is there anything as good that doesn't cost a ton of money? -- dreemsnake |

Yo!
Try downloading Windows Photo Gallery or HP PhotoSmart Essential 2.0, those are really good photo organizerers. Regards, J.A.Becnel. I know. I use Picasa for photo organizing and storage, but that isn't what I'm looking for. Microsoft says that the functionality of Picture It/Digital Image Suite is built into Vista. No. It doesn't come close to having all of the editing functions and you can't resize your pictures, which is something that I do often. It doesn't have the projects, either. What do you use to remove something in a photo (mistakes like the photographer's finger, or the head of a family member you don't like!), to sharpen focus, to remove specs or acne or create a cutout collage? I've been using Digital Image Suite, which isn't as good as the early versions of Picture It, but it's a few years old and Microsoft is done with it. It's really too bad because Picture It was an easy, affordable program that let you do whatever you wanted with pictures and photos. -- dreemsnake |

I too am very frsutrated with Vista and the lack of software that I use to use, won't work now. I had Picture It Photo 2001 and it was a GREAT photo editing tool! Ihad no idea it wouldn't work with Vista. It loaded fine, but once you try and use it, it stops working! Window Photo Gallery IMO sucks. Why does Microsoft do this! It makes me crazy and makes me wish I would have bought a MAC! I now have to use my lap top with XP if I want to use Picture It. Just very frustrating and the list keeps growing. If anyone here finds a great replacement, keep me posted please. Thanks! -- jdsweets |

Hi all, I used to use Picture It also and loved it's capabilities. I am so fed up trying to find a replacement programme that comes anywhere close to PI. They are either too confusing to use, or cost the earth to buy. I am furious with Microsoft. They want to bring out these new OS, but never allow your previous programmes to work, therefore leaving you no other choice but to buy new ones. I know the price of computers have come down greatly, but it still works out expensive having to buy all new programmes. I am yet to have found a replacement photo editing programme that does all the tasks I require. As it stands, I use about 3 different programes to the same tasks that PI done for me. -- cazbarr |
