I've got a Dell GX620 running Vista Ultimate (joined to workgroup, ethernet
connected to network). It has Avast AV. When I turn on Network Discovery, it stays on for a period of time and then, usually when I try to RD into it, I find I can't, and I go to the GX620 and Network Discovery is turned off. (Not saying the act of RD'ing into the desktop is the cause, just that that's how I usually discover that Net Discovery is turned off.) I can turn it back on, no problem, but am at a loss as to why it's getting automagically turned off. On my network I have 4 PC's joined to the same workgroup. I also have three PC's that are remote seats that were joined to domains prior to use at home. I log on to them with cached credentials and VPN into 3 separate corporate networks. I wouldn't think this should have any impact, but thought I'd mention it. Thanks, Lang |

I went into it after those few hours and checked Network Discovery and it was set to Off. I was able to turn it on through the RD session... but there it is again... WTF is turning it off? Thanks, Lang |
