I finally found the LLTD responder and installed on all my XP machines so
that the network discovery centre can see other machines. However, unlike on XP, I can not double click on any machine that appears on the network discovery centre, in order to access their drives or folders. All my XP machines have file sharing enabled and they can get to the folders of the other XP machines by simply clicking on the relevant icon under the network. How do I access them from my Vista machine? (The reason is I want to make the Vista machine my primary machine and synchronise folders with two XP machines) Any help or suggestions? |

The LLTD Responder makes your Windows XP computers visible in the Network Map. It does nothing for name resolution, or for permissions, that are a big part of file sharing problems. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/12/windows-xp-and-vista-on-lan-together.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/1...-together.html Make sure that NetBT is consistently set, and all personal firewalls likewise. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/07/advanced-windows-networking-using.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/0...ing-using.html And check name resolution on all computers. http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/address-resolution-on-lan.html http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...on-on-lan.html -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
