Hey Andy,
Thanks a Million man...i guess ur very right!.. I have upgraded everything but my CRT monitor. Well its a 17" LG brand and about 3 years old from now....i guess i need to upgrade to an TFT LCD with the DV-I input!.... By the way my screen resolution is 1024x768 and the screen refresh rate would be around 75-85. I thought it was my grapic card which was giving me the problem.....thanks again Andy! Thanks and Best Regards, Sid. "Andy [YaYa]" wrote: "Sid.Legend" wrote in message ... Dear andy, I have got problems with Halo 2 on Vista too. As the game starts within 5 mins my monitor goes blank and the LED of my monitor keeps blinking...But my CPU is still on and running(i dont think my CPU got hanged or Crashed). I then need to restart my Pc. The same problem repeats when the game starts again!..Any Help here Andyl???? i recently added a new Nvidia Geforce 8600GTS grapic card.....(U think this doesnt support the game) my pc config is Dual Core 3.0ghz/Intel 945GNTL motherboard/2gb Ram/320Gb Hard Disk/and the new Graphic Card i added. Pls help me out..i am confused what the problem is!!! best regards, Sid. Hey Sid, If your monitor is "going blank" and the LED starts blinking that's usually because your video card is sending a signal to your monitor that it doesn't like. If you own a really old computer monitor that could be the problem. Halo may be trying to startup in 1280x1024 @ 75Hz and your monitor doesn't support that mode. Try this. Right-Click on your desktop and choose Personalize from the menu that comes up. From the window that comes up, click on Display Settings (Last option in the list) In the middle of this window it should say something like: (Name of Monitor) on (Video Card Type) For example, my computer at work says, "Dell 1907FP(Digital) on NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE" If your system says something like, "(Default) on NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS" It could be that your monitor is not Plug n Play compatible. When Vista starts up it checks your monitor to find out what resolutions it supports, if your monitor isn't turned on when you startup Vista, it might not get this information. Solutuion is to reboot your computer. Make sure your monitor is turned on and plugged directly into your video card (don't use a Keyboard, Video, Mouse switch (KVM)) when you reboot. Check that screen again and see if your computer monitor is listed now. If it is, try Halo 2 again. Not sure if there's a way outside of Halo 2 to tell it to startup in a lower resolution. I'm at the office right now and I don't have Halo 2 in front of me. Maybe someone else can chime in. I think Halo is starting in a resolution that your monitor can't handle. That's not saying it won't work with your monitor, you just have to force Halo to start in another mode. When you start the game, try pressing ALT+ENTER (Hold Alt, tap Enter), that might switch the game to windowed mode and get you in so you can at least play around. Good luck, Andy |

Hey Mark,
Thanks for the reply, Well Andy just solved my problem....I didnt upgrade my CRT monitor which is almost 3 years old!. I guess my monitor could not take the output of my grapic card! anyways...just read what Andy has writen! i will even try disabling the screensaver..and try out! thanks Mark...really Appriciated! Best regards, Sid. "Mark" wrote: Sid, one thing that sounds screwy but you might try. When the screen goes blank, try turning the monitor off and back on again. I don't know why but I occasionally had to do that during Halo 2 play. I'm guessing the screensaver settings kicked in somehow and then got confused. Mark "Sid.Legend" wrote in message ... Glad it's working, my monitor is at least 5 years old and it works fine, Like I said, as long as your monitor is on when starting Windows it should pick-up the graphics settings your monitor works with. You and me both should invest in LCDs anyways, better for the enviornment. Just remember to recycle your old CRT. |
