Maybe this has already been answered somewhere else but I've spent hours
searching and still haven't found it.
I have a computer running Vista Ultimate. I have a share for the C:\ drive
so I can access it with my administrator ID. I want to put out a share of a
single folder on the C:\ drive for others on my network to share. I don't
care if it's done by ID and password or if it's completely open, so long as
no one other than myself can access it r/w. However, I don't want others to
access the share of C:\. Also, I don't want anyone else to be able to logon
to the machine.

I know I can do a share by creating an ID and giving it permission to share
this folder. But then that ID can logon at the computer, which I don't want
to permit.

Is there a way to do this?

If you're going to have it shared for you and only you to write to it, you'll
have to use Password Protected Sharing.

Then you setup your account, with identical password, on the server (where the
share is). You activate Guest for read access. And you setup the right
permissions for your account (R/W) and Guest (R/O).
