Default lost gateway and fix

Hi, I have checked the forum and losing the gateway seems like a lot of
people have had
the same problem on VISTA. I have found what I believe is the hotfix, but
pray tell, how does one download load it if one cannot get on the internet?
This is what I want to download:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b/933872/en-us

The default gateway was working fine for several weeks and then nothing. No
diagnostics/resolve problem worked, so I came to the forum. I am using a
MacBook Pro with VISTA Ultimate installed. So I can at least use the
internet on MAC OS X.

So, please, if someone can tell me how to get the hotfix from the site to
my Mac VISTA operating system I would be very grateful. Thanks

I feel your pain. Restricting downloads like this to machines that are
running a Windows operating system is a total pain. This is one of the
really stupidly irritating things Microsoft has done; every time I need
to download something like this for a client I have to turn on one of
the Windows machines instead of just getting it from my OS X box (or
Linux before I got the MacBook).

Unfortunately, in your case you'll need to use a friend's machine
running Windows and let MS do its damn validation. Put the downloaded
file on a USB thumbdrive.

That is a pain. I just happened to browsing this group from Linux and went
to the link. I don't normally use Linux while accessing newsgroups
so I've never been bothered by this until now. Hotfixes that fix a bug
shouldn't need validation to download.

Well, I'm bothered by it very single gd day. I support every one of
their operating systems from DOS to Server and have done so while using
Linux for myself for over 7 years and now OS X. And it's a pain in the
patootie, but whinging about it will do no good. Turn on a Windows
machine and have done with it.
