Default vista/not being able to connect to internet

I just stumbled on your message looking for a solution to a similar problem.
I noticed that my regular broadband service though FIOS (5mgb/2mgb) was
running slow. When I called in for service help las week, I simultanously
signed up for a speed upgrade to 20/5. After a lot of work with the tech
support people I was able to get decent speed reading from my laptop running
on XP, but they have given up trying to get any speed at all from my pc
running Vista. My laptop (Dell Inspiron 600M) is linked wirelessly to an
Actiontec router. The PC HP Pavilon a450n) was upgraded to accommodate Vista.
The Verizon techs say that they are ready to release a tweek program for
Vista but not for another two or three weeks. Fortunately I do get an
internet connection with the pc, although running very slowly. I can't
believe that Vista will not run on a FIOS connection. There must be some work
around for this problem, but my computer skills are much too puny to address
this issue.

Try a more relevant newsgroup (or perhaps even an HP support forum)?
Cross-posting for convenience. (If whichever portal you are posting from
hosts the other newsgroup too you can click on the link in the header to switch
newsgroups.)

Good luck

Verizon Fios is my internet service provider...we have numerous ethernet connections that work well with our wireless router (ie:
windows xp dell computer, laptop, xbox360, etc.)...we just bought a brand new computer for another room that has windows
vista....tried all day through techs to connect to the internet through our ethernet connection/router and was told that verizon
might not be compatible with vista....am finding many other people who say their routers (from all different providers) are not
compatible as well....what am I supposed to do now??????? Is anyone coming up with the same problem and if so why isn't vista
correcting this problem....i will have to return our new computer if we can't connect to the internet....am happy with verizon's
service and have many other internet connections through them.
