Vista Dropping Internet Connectivity / DNS
I've had a few frustrating weeks with my Vista Ultimate Machine... Here's
what's happening, and hopefully someone may have a suggestion to get me up and running. After booting up, the computer has no issues connecting to the internet. After about 30 minutes, I'll get "page not found" error messages on every page I try to access on the computer. I have 3 other computers in the house running XP and they still have connectivity and can access the pages when Vista cannot. about 1 in 20 refreshes will bring back a partial page with broken links. I also cannot connect to my router when this happens (from this machine... it works from the other machines). I then check the network panel and I still show local and internet connectivity. If you refresh the screen, it drops the internet connectivity and only shows local. Then the local will pop in and out. Again, all other computers on the network are fine. Ive tried changing cables, changing ports on the router. I even went so far as connecting to the router via USB to eliminate the NIC. No avail. So the problem seems to be either with settings or with Vista itself. Up until this problem began happening (last week), I routinely would have to disable the NIC and re-enable it every day as internet traffic is brutally slow, even with the upgraded cable service from Comcast. Again, the other machines are blazingly fast. Last ditch effort... I re-installed Vista yesterday to try to repair whatever problems may be lurking in the software / settings, and things are a bit more stable, however, I'm still getting intermittant drops. Any Ideas?!?!?!

Try to disable the IPv6 first. If that doesn't fix the problem, reset TCP/IP manually. Please post back with the result.

I just tried disabling the IPv6 and disabling it caused me to still show
internet connectivity in the Network and Sharing Center, but when I tried to connect to the internet, I recieved the page not found message both in IE7 and Firefox. After checking the IPv6 option back on, internet connectivity was still active and I was able to connect to pages in both IE7 and Firefox. Can you explain what you mean by reset TCP/IP manually?
