Error 0x800705AD insufficient quota to complete reqd service
What does this mean and how do I fix it? I have had this message frequently when transferring files to/from a networked USB device (camera, external HDD), and think it has something to do with Vista's stupid paranoid permissions. Now When copying from a camera connected to the Vista laptop via the network to a USB external HDD connected to the XP machine and this happens it actually corrupts the data. That didn't happen this time, copying from an interal DVD drive on the laptop to the external HDD on the network, but it did refuse to copy the last few files and any subsequent files from anywhere to anywhere until you reboot. What causes this and how is it fixed? It is not a matter of disabling quotas on the XP machine - I have already done that. |

Hi Greg:
I'm having same problem as you. See also Link... http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...teID=17&mode=1 My input in this forum is user name "Sharpis". My messages are... --------------- 1.) Similiar problem here - Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows XP Pro copying. Trying to copy several files about 700mb each (2.67GB). Windows XP Pro machine had low resources error, so rebooted into safe mode with networking and had no problems copying files. Maybe the swap file is too small on the Windows XP machine for copying files in Vista? and Running in safe mode free's up memory and resources! My Windows XP Pro swap file is set to 384min/768MBmax with 320MB RAM. Cheers 2.) I previously posted on this subject, I too have this problem and after reading the latest posts I too have CA software installed... "Internet Security Suite 2008 plus" to all three of my computers. My Computers... Windows Vista Ultimate PC, Windows XP Pro PC Windows XP Home Notebook. I will contact CA here in Australia to see what they can do and keep you posted. Cheers Sharpy --------------- After reading uyour post, you have reminded me that I too are using a USB2.0 320GB HDD on 2nd computer running WindowsXP Pro which I am trying to backup to from a Windows Vista Ultimate computer. Notes: a.) I had only a few minor corruption issues only due to computer locking up and having to pull the power plug to reboot. b.) I have no quota's set on any computer. c.) I'm using GoodSync to backup files to the other drive (Excellent software). Contacted GoodSync and their saying their software just uses the built in API in Windows. So in other words it's a Windows OS problem or problem with something in Windows. Cheers Sharpy "Greg" wrote in message ... It may cause by a 3rd party software. For troubleshooting, start the Vista
with clean boot. Or the following post may help. Please post back with the result. 0x800705AD insufficient quota to complete requested service http://chicagotech.net/netforums/vie...hp?p=4714#4714 -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "REwing" wrote in message ...
