Default 56K Dial-up keeps dropping carrier within minutes of connection

Just bought an Acer notebook (AMD Turion Mobile, 64 Bit) with Vista Home
Premium (32 Bit). Using my existing provider, PeoplePC, the connection keeps
dropping within 10 minutes of dialing. Sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 5,
others around 9-12 minutes. It's random.

Our XP machine still runs fine using the same phone line & number. Vista
apparently does not like something. I've got the newest version of PeoplePC
running on both systems. It's killing me with trying to get updates when the
modem keeps disconnecting!

Anyway, not sure what other information I can/should provide. Please let me
know what more info may be needed to possibly find the problem.

Thanks
Justin
