Hi guys, I just download the Vista RC1 file twice now and no matter what i
try i cant seem to find the file in my folders, ive tried saving it in
several different places but still no luck. The download process i took was
via the akamaintechnologies download manager. Any help would be great.

I have downloaded from the past previous versions of Vista and had never
experienced your dillema, when I download Vista I used FlashGet and saved the
file in its default download folder and after the download is done the files
are all there in the saved folder. Hope you had luck in your download!

I thought it was just me going bonkers. 5+ hours of download and no file.
Download from site on Beta 2 Vista machine - seemed sensible at the time as
this is the target machine. Accepted defaults, because I am a default type
person. First attempt I did try saving to a non-default folders and it just
would not have it. Second time accepted default but no file. Did full
system search for file - not present. Manually trawled machine but could not
find it. Because I have had two download attempts I cannot get a third.
Even ran CHKDSK to see if the file was in lost chains anywhere but no it
ain't there. I do hope this is not indicative of the future!
My Vista machine is on Windows Domain if that makes any difference, although
it shouldn't.
I only hope that as I paid for Beta 2 on DVD that I will still get shipped
the RC1 DVD and that the system won't say "well he had this by download so I
won't ship out DVD". If that happens I shall be more than just a little
displeased.
In the meantime..........
If anybody finds an answer................

Maybe try a search for c:\*.iso?

I tried downloading another file. Same thing. Disappears from the
drive (because it is a VIRTUAL drive?).
Downloaded to my \temp dir that I make in the drive root. Worked
fine.
My guess is you can not SAVE to a virtual drive.

I have just posted a reply to John on his post. There is a solution.

Use Windows Explorer and type in the full address of the doenload path into
the address bar. You should find your file in
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Window s\Temporary Internet
Files\Virtualized\C\Users\username\Documents

Type in the full path and dopn't worry if the partial paths that appear as
you type do not seem to have the next step. You must get beyond the
'Virtualized' part og the path before the rest makes sense.
I found the solution in a post dated 18th June. Pity MS did not act on it
for this release.

Hi,
Here's what I tell everyone;
#1 Akami seems to be giving some folks grief. And on the download page for
rc1-you'll see;on the right side, the same links.
But;they are under a header; that says; Use your own browser/download
manager.
That's exactly what you want to do.
First; don't use your browser; get a download manager;and install it.-- I
chose free download manager;it's free; and it.s here :
www.freedownloadmanager.org
then, choose your version under that header; the download manager you
have installed-- see above--lol;
will grab it. And depending on what one you use; you can adjust the speed.
If you pick the one above;in the options;at the top;you'll see;
optimization.
Open it;and set it to your download speed;default is 512kbs- I chose t1 and
was averaging 775kbs.
It won't disappear; either-lol

I thought my last post dealt with it.
First run command window and type on the command line dir *.iso /s
You will probably find your file listed in
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Window s\Temporary Internet
Files\Virtualized\C\Users\username\Documents

Then as I described us windows explorer address bar and type in the full
path to your file and you should find it.
I have now got my iso file as has John who posted a similar problem.
Give it a whirl.
