Can I thank you guys for finding me the solution to the download problem a
number of us have had with RC1. Pity MS did not take note of your comments and do something about it in Beta 2 release. Can we broadcast your efforts far and wide because this is likely to be a big problem in Vista across the whole wide world of Windows Users. "Kip" wrote: open a new windows explorer window, and type C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\ Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\ in the address bar. then you should be able to see the rest of the folders in the path. There is no other way to get there in Windows. The Temporary Internet Files folder is Hidden, and if you open it, it will just show your IE cache instead of the files and folders that are in there. (make sure you replace "username" with the name of the folder where your profile is stored) "Gerhard" wrote: I turned off the protected mode in Internet Explorer(?). But still cannot see the iso file. I looked in C, where XP is and could not find a path resembling C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\ Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\Users\Username\Documents . And I looked in G, where Vista is and could not see G:\Users\username\AppData. Like before a search for the iso file showed no results "Kip" wrote: figured it out. the problem is with Internet Explorer protected mode. Turn it off in Options-Security. the file you already downloaded is in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\ Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\Users\Username\Documents "Kip" wrote: I've been trying to figure that one out, too. the file is there, but doesn't show up in windows. if I find out anything, I'll let you know. "Gerhard" wrote: I downloaded the file:” vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x64fre_client-LB2CxFRE_EN_DVD” into a known location: “Documents”. But I cannot see the file, hence cannot burn it to a DVD.I tried in vain to search “Document” for “vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x64fre_client-LB2CxFRE_EN_DVD” or “iso” How can I open this file? Thanks in advance, Gerhard |
