Default Remote Assistance stopped working

I have used RA several times in the past without issue Vista to Vista.
Recently it has suddenly stopped working. I receive the invitation fine and
am able to enter the password but then get the message "The person you are
trying to help might have closed Remote Assistance." Tried disabling all
firewalls and yes, I am behind a router and the client(s) I am trying to
assist are also. However, these are the same routers that worked in the past.
The Microsoft Internet connectivity tests report all as successfull. Any
suggestions as to which areas I should take a look at are appreciated. I am
running Vista Ultimate to a D-Link router and cable modem.

No. The problem still exists. I am hoping it is something simple so I can
avoid drastic measures like wiping and reloading.

The invitation seems only to list my local IP (192.168.0.101).

If I try to telnet to my local IP I get:

"Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Default Remote Assistance stopped working

I had this exact problem. It was working fine Vista to Vista and then
stopped working with the same message. I was able to connect to the same
remote computer from another vista machine behind my router so the problem
was not on their end.

It seems I had turned OFF windows firewall a week earlier on the one and it
stopped working. I turned it back ON and it worked though Messenger again.
This thread sort of lead me to figure that oddity out.

Thanks
